For some, running a restaurant is a business. For us, it is our calling. Our passion for food and fine dining comes first, business second. We are a chef-driven restaurant. For you, that means fine dining at its best. We invite you to join us for an unforgettable culinary experience.
Before being promoted to the position of Executive Chef, Larry MacDonald started with the Cameron Mitchell team in 1998 as the Sous Chef of Cap City Fine Diner & Bar in Grandview. Larry learned about Cameron Mitchell Restaurants when his mentor became an Executive Chef with CMR, an opportunity that Larry decided he wanted, too.
Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, Larry started in the restaurant business in eighth grade. He worked at a small, family-owned restaurant for ten years. That’s where he fell in love with the restaurant business and it’s what he’s been doing ever since. “It’s different everyday. Different obstacles and challenges,” which bring him the satisfaction he craves in his profession.
Larry has nearly two decades of experience with all back-of-the-house phases of the restaurant industry. A hard-working, dedicated self-starter, Larry was awarded the Cameron Mitchell Restaurant “2000 Cup of Joe” award, the company honor for the most energetic person.
His favorite kitchen tool is the tongs. “They are an extension of your hand,” proving particularly useful when pulling hot pans from the oven. His favorite ingredients in the kitchen are salt and garlic, both useful in seasoning a wide variety of dishes.
At home Larry likes to cook macaroni and cheese. He admits that his wife does most of the cooking and he is expected to help with the dishes. He enjoys golf and football. Larry, his wife, and three children reside in Columbus.
