Lauren Klempay began working in the restaurant industry at 16 years old and knew instantly that the fast-paced, energetic environment was the perfect place to begin her career. After graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in hospitality management and working at other casual dining locations around Columbus early in her career, she joined Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) in 2017 and now serves as the general manager of Cap City Fine Diner and Bar in Dublin.
Klempay values the open and honest communication that is part of CMR’s culture. “We are a community that comes together to help and take care of each other, even if we don’t know each other directly,” she said.
During her professional career, Klempay’s biggest takeaway is to not let yesterday take up too much of today. “Things don’t always go as planned, but they’ll work out in the end – stay positive!” She advises others pursuing a hospitality career to join a company that cares about you as much as you do, and to start to take on the responsibilities of the job you want to eventually be in, to keeping pushing yourself further in your career.
Klempay, who was born and raised in Columbus, currently resides in Dublin with her dog Tucker. She loves to travel, get together with her friends and spend time outside with Tucker. Her favorite CMR dish is the chicken carbonara from Martini Modern Italian.
